Draft 2026 Priorities
- Reinforce bipartisan support for the Jones Act in Congress and leverage relationships in the Trump Administration to prevent attempts to waive or weaken the law.
- Build and strengthen relationships with Members of the 119th Congress to drive results on AWO priorities.
- Engage Congressional and Administration efforts to strengthen the U.S. maritime industry to protect and advance member interests.
- Work with the Coast Guard to improve the efficiency of its vessel inspection, mariner credentialing, and other processes that impact members.
- Promote the adoption of AWO recommendations to reduce regulatory burdens on members.
- Advocate for timely issuance of Coast Guard regulations to implement the Vessel Incidental Discharge Act and provide relief from burdensome requirements.
- Promote inclusion of AWO priorities in the Coast Guard authorization and Water Resources Development Act bills.
- Advocate for increased federal investment in Coast Guard and Corps of Engineers programs that support safe navigation and efficient maritime commerce.
- Advocate for practical, risk-informed implementation of Coast Guard cybersecurity regulations and develop resources to support member compliance.

Oppose harmful policies and advocate for beneficial policies at the state level, including mariner exemptions from paid leave laws, pro-Jones Act resolutions, and practical approaches to environmental concerns.
