AWO Supports Atlantic Coast Shipping Safety Act to Designate Atlantic Routes for Safe Maritime Navigation

The American Waterways Operators recently issued the following statement in support of H.R. 6410, the Atlantic Coast Shipping Safety Act, introduced by Reps. David Rouzer (R-NC), Laura Gillen (D-NY), and Buddy Carter (R-GA), which requires the Coast Guard to complete the process of establishing fairways for commercial navigation along the Atlantic Coast:

“The American tugboat, towboat and barge industry is proud to serve as the safest and most efficient mode of freight transportation in the United States, playing a vital role in our nation’s economy, supply chain, and security. Establishing clear navigation fairways along the busy Atlantic Coast is critical to ensure the continued safety of waterways commerce, and AWO is pleased to support the Atlantic Coast Shipping Safety Act to encourage the Coast Guard’s timely completion of this effort.”
