Mariner Wellness is discussed in depth by the Seamen’s Church Institute’s Mariner Wellness Steering Committee. Covering topics ranging from family support to education about job conditions and the benefits and risks of a rising number of electronic communication options available on vessels with live-aboard crews. The panel also promoted programs such as CISM (critical incident stress management) which give frontline and shoreside managers resources to recognize and address wellness problems before they produce incidents.
