Mike described a double-tag system that is designed to prevent unintentional discharges caused by the wrong position of valves no tank barges. This presentation details the simple steps genesis has developed to ensure each critical valve is identified, labeled, and checked prior to transfers of any kind. The system is able to be used for an unlimited number of crew changes, covering cases when a transfer outlasts a Person in Charge’s watch and preventing a loss of containment due to ineffective communication between oncoming and off-going shifts.
