AWO Statement on the Enactment of WRDA 2020

AWO commends House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee Chairman DeFazio and Senate Environment & Public Works Committee Chairman Barrasso, Ranking Members Graves and Carper, Water Resources Subcommittee Chairwoman Napolitano and Ranking Member Westerman, and Transportation Subcommittee Chairwoman Capito and Ranking Member Cardin for ensuring WRDA 2020 was enacted before the end of the 116th Congress. This is a significant law for the domestic maritime industry that will accelerate funding for key infrastructure projects on our major rivers and enable the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to deploy dredges to trouble spots faster. The law ensures that Harbor Maintenance Trust Fund dollars get to our busy ports and harbors, and also sensibly pauses construction of interception-rearing complexes on the Missouri River until the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers can assess their impact on pallid sturgeon recovery and on flood control and navigation. WRDA 2020 is a win for America’s vital commercial towing industry.
